A contemporary home at the heart of a former manor estate north of Lyon

The challenge of this renovation? Bringing character to a space that originally had none, while deliberately moving away from the classic codes of Parisian Haussmann-style apartments—moldings, white ceilings, perfect symmetry—in which the owner had lived for over 20 years.

With the support of architects from the commercial design world, she chose a sensitive and colorful approach, always carefully balanced. The goal was not simply to “add color,” but to create a warm, lasting atmosphere—one that would not tire over time.

In the kitchen, a custom-made powder-pink glass partition gently defines the space, bringing both structure and poetry to the large rectangular room. This dialogue continues through the textiles: a built-in bench, cushions, and carefully selected paint tones. Each colored element finds its rightful place, never overwhelming the space.

In terms of layout, the house is organized over three levels, each designed to offer independence and privacy.

On the ground floor, the space is dedicated to the parents, with a large bedroom and its en-suite bathroom, as well as the shared living areas. The kitchen, dining room, and living room unfold in an open, fluid, and welcoming layout.

The first floor is the children’s world. Here, a beautiful multipurpose room combines a playroom, reading nook, TV area, library, and custom-made desk. It is a living space in its own right for the younger members of the family, complemented by two spacious bedrooms and a shared bathroom.

Finally, at the very top—within what was once the former water tower—a light-filled room with 360-degree views over the park completes this exceptional property. Designed as a hybrid space—home office, yoga room, or guest bedroom—it offers a precious sense of retreat from the rest of the house. A true haven of peace, suspended above it all.
